Alaska/Yukon Trails provides daily service to Talkeetna Junction & the town of Talkeetna from both Anchorage & Fairbanks. Located at mile 99 on the Parks Highway, Talkeetna Junction is 14 miles from Talkeetna Town. We arrange your connection from the junction for the beautifully scenic 14 miles down the Spur road to the town. See our Routes on this route for more information on getting to/from the town of Talkeetna. For those planning on an expedition up Mt. McKinley, we can transport your climbing gear & supplies directly to your air taxi carrier. Talkeetna is the place where more than 1,000 climbers a year begin their attempt to scale Mt. McKinley. Hundreds of climbers make their way to this community every day beginning in early April where they hire air taxi's to take them to base camp on the mountain. You don't have to climb McKinley to enjoy this town. There are plenty of recreational & sightseeing opportunities here. Chose from flight seeing around the Alaska Range, River excursions, hiking trails, or package tours. This small town has a unique charm all its own, with renovated mining cabins & historic hotels; many of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The town also offers some of the best views of Mt. McKinley anywhere on land. The museum located in the heart of the town, features a scale model of Mt. McKinley. The Mountaineering Center/Ranger Station exhibits fantastic photographs of the Alaska Range. The Talkeetna Historical Society Visitors Information Center is located in the town center. Also visit The Talkeetna-Denali Visitors Center located at mile 99 of the Parks Highway, at the junction of the Talkeetna Spur Road (14 miles from the town).
The National Park Service has a ranger station. They can provide information on
Denali National Park, & climbing in the Alaska Range (including McKinley). You may also obtain information on mountaineering regulations & permits. If you would like to find out more about hiking, sightseeing, camping opportunities, or mountain biking in the Talkeetna area then also visit the

have locations in downtown Fairbanks & downtown Anchorage, they are a
great source of information on outdoor recreational lands use throughout all
areas of Alaska. Here, you will find information on all of Alaska's state and
federal lands including parks, forests, wildlife refuges, river systems, &
trails. Available are topographic maps, books, slide shows, & other aids
to help you with your Alaskan adventure. Expert staff are knowledgeable
resource, & can assist you in learning much more about getting off the
